A Gol Linhas Aereas Boeing 737-700, registration PR-GOV performing flight G3-2179 from Belem,PA to Manaus,AM (Brazil), was enroute when the aircraft encountered turbulence followed by the crew receiving indication of loss of cabin pressure. The crew initiated an emergency descent, the passenger oxygen masks were released. The aircraft subsequently continued to Manaus for a safe landing.

A replacement Boeing 737-700 registration PR-VBX performed the last sector of flight G3-2179 with ultimate destination Cruzeiro Do Sul,AC (Brazil) on time.

Passengers reported that long before landing in Manuas the aircraft experienced turbulence followed by problems with the cabin pressure. The aircraft engine noises stopped, the aircraft took the nose down and initiated a steep descent, the oxygen masks came down and were used by the passengers. The aircraft subsequently continued to Manuas and landed without further problems.

The airline reported the immediate next sectors from Manuas to Porto Velho,RO and further to Rio Branco,AC (Brazil) needed to be cancelled due to unscheduled maintenance of the electrical systems needed on the aircraft arriving in Manaus.
