An American Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N791AN performing flight AA-901 from Miami,FL (USA) to Rio de Janeiro,RJ (Brazil) with 254 people on board, was climbing out of Miami's runway 27 when the crew reported a technical problem, stopped the climb at 6000 feet and entered a hold to work the checklists. The crew subsequently advised that the "landing gear did not retract" and requested to return to Miami. The aircraft landed safely back on runway 27 about 25 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.
