The airline reported the crew lost control of the aircraft due to the slippery runway due to snowfall. All 154 occupants of the aircraft safely evacuated and were taken to the terminal.
The airport confirmed the runway excursion causing substantial damage to the aircraft. There was snowfall and low visibility, however, other aircraft were departing and arriving without problems.
Iran's Ministry of Transport reported the Zagros MD-83 suffered a runway excursion while landing in Mashad at 19:40L (scheduled time of arrival 18:00L), there were no injuries. Iran's Accident Investigation Board have dispatched investigators on site.
