A JAL Japan Airlines Boeing 787-800, registration JA822J performing flight JL-17 (dep Jan 28th) from Vancouver,BC (Canada) to Tokyo Narita (Japan) with 166 people on board, was enroute at FL410 about 150nm northeast of Tokyo's Narita Airport when the crew received indication the right hand engine (GEnx) had failed, shut the engine down, drifted down to FL210 and subsequently commenced the approach to Narita for a safe landing on runway 34L about 50 minutes after leaving FL410.
