A Swiss International Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration HB-IJK performing flight LX-1054 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Hamburg (Germany), was descending towards Hamburg when an engine (CFM56) banged and jolted two times and was shut down. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Hamburg's runway 23.

A passenger reported the captain announced "das Triebwerk hat sich verschluckt" (the engine just choked).

The aircraft was unable to depart for the return flight LX-1055, the flight was cancelled.
