A KLM Boeing 777-200, registration PH-BQH performing flight KL-591 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Johannesburg (South Africa), was enroute at FL330 about 35nm north of Marseille (France) when the crew decided to return to Amsterdam due to the failure of the weather radar. The aircraft landed safely back in Amsterdam about 95 minutes later.

A replacement Boeing 777-200 registration PH-BQD departed about 2.5 hours later and reached Johannesburg with a delay of 7 hours.

The airline confirmed the aircraft returned to Amsterdam due to the failure of the weather radar.
