Argentina's JIAAC reported on Mar 11th 2015, that one occupant received serious injuries, 17 others minor injuries. The occurrence was rated an accident, the JIAAC is investigating.
On Oct 2nd 2016 the JIAAC released their final report in Spanish concluding the probable causes of the accident were:
The steep dive from FL300 about 130nm from Ezeiza VOR was caused by the inadvertent interference with the flight controls by the first officer causing the autopilot to disconnect when the first officer's seat moved.
There was moderate turbulence in the area not reported by preceding flights.
There was no standard operating procedure for changing the position of flight crew in flight.
The JIAAC reported the aircraft had just been cleared to descend from FL300 to FL270 when the aircraft entered a steep dive, the captain took control of the aircraft and arrested the descent. He subsequently assessed the situation, received information that a number of cabin crew and passengers were injured and requested priority for landing.
The JIAAC analysed that the actual fault in the first officer's seat motion system could not be determined because the aircraft did not return to Argentina for verification.
