An Air Canada Airbus A330-300, registration C-GHLM performing flight AC-879 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 268 passengers and 11 crew, was accelerating for takeoff from Zurich's runway 16 when the crew rejected takeoff at low speed (about 53 knots over ground) reporting the left hand engine (Trent 772) had stalled. The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron.

A replacement Boeing 787-900 registration C-FGDX was dispatched from Toronto to Zurich as flight AC-7064 but was called back to Toronto while enroute at FL410 overhead Newfoundland when it became clear the aircraft would not make it into Zurich before the night curfew.

The occurrence aircraft was repaired, departed the following day and reached Toronto with a delay of 23.5 hours.
