A United Boeing 777-200, registration N781UA performing flight UA-828 from Guam (Guam) to Tokyo Narita (Japan), was climbing out of Guam when the crew stopped the climb at FL250 reporting a left hand engine (PW4077) indication, but continued towards Japan. About 15 minutes later the crew decided to return to Guam, turned around and descended the aircraft to FL100 for the return. The aircraft landed safely back in Guam about 65 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N73299 reached Tokyo with a delay of 6:40 hours.

The airline stated the captain reported a reading that suggested debris was ingested by the left hand engine.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Guam 48 hours after landing back.
