A Thomas Cook Airbus A321-200, registration G-TCDZ performing flight MT-1414 from Birmingham,EN (UK) to Larnaca (Cyprus), was in the initial climb out of Birmingham's runway 33 when a bird impacted the aircraft prompting the crew to level off at FL080 and return to Birmingham for a safe landing on runway 33 about 30 minutes later.

A ground observer reported the aircraft sounded very strange as it passed over the observer.

A replacement Airbus A330-200 registration G-CHTZ departed the following morning and reached Larnaca with a delay of 18.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 18 hours then resumed service.
