A Qantas Airbus A380-800, registration VH-OQH performing flight QF-93 from Melbourne,VI (Australia) to Los Angeles,CA (USA), was enroute at FL330 about 60nm east of Sydney,NS (Australia) about one hour into the flight when the crew decided to divert to Sydney due to an engine (Trent 972) oil leak. The crew reduced the affected engine to idle thrust, dumped fuel and landed safely on Sydney's runway 34L about 2 hours after leaving FL330.

The airline reported the crew reduced the engine to idle after an engine oil leak was detected.

The occurrence aircraft was able to depart again after about 2:45 hours on the ground and reached Los Angeles with a delay of about 5 hours.
