A Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-FWSO performing flight WS-230 from Calgary,AB to Winnipeg,MB (Canada) with 95 people on board, landed on Winnipeg's runway 13 at 08:41L (13:41Z), while attempting to turn onto taxiway C the right main gear left the paved surface of the runway and struck a taxiway light before the aircraft came to a stop at the holding bay of taxiway C. The flight crew notified tower of the runway excursion, assessed the situation and taxied to the apron.

The Canadian TSB reported that the flight crew had computed a landing roll of 7200 feet with autobrakes set to 2, they would vacate the runway via taxiway C. However, while on the ILS approach to runway 13 the crew recognized the runway was wet and increased the autobrakes setting to 3. After touchdown the autobrakes became active, the crew deployed spoilers and thrust reversers manually. At 60 knots the thrust reversers were stowed and the crew applied manual braking. About 5000 feet past the runway threshold the aircraft began to hydroplane, below 40 knots the pilot flying used nose wheel steering, while applying manual braking, to turn the aircraft onto taxiway C, however, both right hand main wheels departed the paved surface of the runway, went over soft ground and struck a taxiway light before the aircraft came to a stop at the holding bay of taxiway C. Maintenance replaced the #3 wheel assembly, the tyre showed one area of reverted tyre rubber, and the #4 wheel assembly, the tyre showed cuts in the tyre tread. One taxiway light was destroyed and replaced by airport maintenance. The TSB did not open an investigation.
