A Cathay Pacific Airbus A330-300, registration B-HLR performing flight CX-646 from Hyderabad (India) to Hong Kong (China) with 244 people on board, was climbing out of Hyderabad's runway 09R when the crew stopped the climb at FL100 due to a bird strike onto the right hand side of the aircraft nose. The aircraft returned to Hyderabad for a safe landing on runway 09R about 20 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 19 hours after landing back.

The airline estimates the aircraft will be able to depart with a delay of 28:40 hours. A number of passengers were rebooked onto other flights, the others were taken to hotels.
