A Niki Airbus A321-200, registration OE-LCK performing flight HG-7765 from Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) to Dusseldorf (Germany) with 92 passengers and 8 crew, was enroute at FL380 nearing the south coast of France when a number of Air Traffic Control Centers spreading from Marseille up to Geneva (Switzerland) and even Zurich (Switzerland) tried to raise the aircraft via their frequencies and on the guard frequency, however, without success. Communication was eventually restored and the aircraft continued to Dusseldorf for a safe landing about 2 hours after departure from Palma Mallorca.

A listener on frequencies reported that the crew no longer reacted to radio calls. A number of ATC Centers (Marseille, Nice, Geneva, Zurich) started to call the aircraft on various frequencies including the guard frequency, however, without success.

Germany's BFU reported on Apr 12th 2017, that they are not aware of the occurrence.

The airline confirmed on Apr 13th 2017, that the aircraft lost communication for about 15 minutes because the crew had tuned another frequency. After the loss of communication was observed, radio contact was re-established. The aircraft was not escorted by military aircraft.
