A THY Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-900, registration TC-JYP performing flight TK-415 from Moscow Vnukovo (Russia) to Istanbul (Turkey), departed Vnukovo Airport's runway 06, the tail of the aircraft however contacted the runway surface during rotation. The crew climbed the aircraft to safety, levelled off at 7000 feet and returned to Vnukovo for a safe landing on runway 06 about 25 minutes after departure.

An examination of the aircraft revealed scratches on the tail bumper, which however had not been compressed out of the permitted range.

The aircraft was able to depart Vnukovo again after 2 hours on the ground and reached Istanbul with a delay of about 2.5 hours.
