A Lufthansa Airbus A340-600, registration D-AIHZ performing flight LH-412 from Munich (Germany) to Newark,NJ (USA), was enroute at FL360 about 210nm westsouthwest of Shannon (Ireland) about to enter the Oceanic Crossing, when the crew decided to return to Munich reporting smell issues on board, a possibly electrical odour was detected on board of the aircraft. The aircraft dumped fuel for about 5-8 minutes shortly after turning around, climbed to FL370 for the flight back to Munich and landed safely on Munich's runway 08L about 145 minutes after turning around.

A passenger reported there were strange smells on board, about 2 hours into the flight the captain announced they were returning to Munich.
