An Air France Airbus A319-100, registration F-GRHS performing ferry flight AF-380V from Bologna (Italy) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) with 2 crew, was enroute at FL380 about 70nm east of Geneva (Switzerland) when the crew initiated a rapid descent due to a bleed air leak with the right hand engine (CFM56) and a rise of the cabin altitude. The crew diverted the aircraft to Geneva for a safe landing on runway 23 about 20 minutes later.

Switzerland's SUST reported on Nov 24th 2016, that the aircraft had been dispatched for a ferry flight with just two crew on board due to a pressure control valve on the left hand engine being inoperative. In flight a bleed air leak on the right hand engine was detected prompting the crew to divert to Geneva. An investigation has been opened by SUST.

The occurrence aircraft had performed flight AF-1304 from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Rome Fiumicino (Italy) the day before, aborted the approach to Rome at FL090 due to weather conditions (see METARs below) and subsequently diverted to Bologna landing in Bologna about one hour after stopping the descent towards Rome at FL090.
