A KLM Boeing 747-400, registration PH-BFV performing flight KL-897 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Beijing (China), was climbing out of Amsterdam when the crew requested to level off at FL190 advising they were not permitted to climb above FL220 due to a flaps problem. The aircraft dumped fuel and returned to Amsterdam for a safe landing on runway 27 about 75 minutes after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 110 minutes, then departed again and reached Beijing with a total delay of 130 minutes.
