A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380-800, registration 9V-SKL performing flight SQ-406 from Singapore (Singapore) to Delhi (India), was enroute at FL400 about 140nm northwest of Phuket (Thailand) when the crew decided to return to Singapore after the passenger oxygen masks had been released. The aircraft descended to FL390 and landed safely back in Singapore about 3.5 hours after turning around.

A replacement A380-800 registration 9V-SKC reached Delhi with a delay of 7.5 hours.

The airline reported a technical malfunction caused the passenger oxygen masks to be released, there had been no loss of cabin pressure.
