A Mesa Airlines Canadair CRJ-900 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N934FJ performing flight YV-5946/AA-5946 from Dayton,OH to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) with 51 passengers and 4 crew, was enroute at FL340 about 40nm northwest of Louisville,KY (USA) when the crew initiated an emergency descent to 11,000 feet and subsequently decided to divert to Louisville for a safe landing on runway 17R about 50 minutes after leaving FL340.

The remainder of the flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
