A Lion Air Boeing 737-900, registration PK-LGJ performing flight JT-791 from Ambon to Makassar (Indonesia) with 211 passengers and 7 crew, was descending towards Makassar when the crew reported problems with the right hand engine (CFM56). The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Makassar's runway 03 about 10 minutes later.

A replacement Boeing 737-900 registration PK-LKM positioned to Makassar and performed the next sector of flight JT-791 from Makassar to Surabaya (Indonesia) with a delay of 4.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Makassar about 19 hours after landing.
