A United Boeing 737-800, registration N27205 performing flight UA-1243 from Newark,NJ to San Diego,CA (USA) with 80 people on board, was enroute at FL360 about 130nm southsoutheast of Denver,CO (USA) when passengers noticed a buzzing sound apparently coming from one of the seats but could not spot anything. Cabin crew found a small electronic device with flashing lights and buzzings sounds, nobody claimed the device. The flight crew decided to divert to Denver, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 17L about 30 minutes later. The aircraft vacated the runway, stopped and shut the engines down while emergency services brought stairs to the forward right door to enter the aircraft and check the aircraft and the device found. The passengers disembarked and were bussed to the terminal. Emergency services reported everything was normal, nothing suspicious was found.

The airport tweeted soon after "everything is safe".

The occurrence aircraft departed Denver after about 2.5 hours on the ground and reached San Diego with a delay of 3.5 hours.
