An Ikar Boeing 767-300, registration VP-BOY performing flight IK-102 from Simferopol (Ukraine) to Krasnojarsk (Russia) with 227 people on board, was climbing out of Simferopol when the crew stopped the climb at about FL260 due to the failure of an engine (PW4060). The aircraft returned to Simferopol for a safe landing about 40 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 767-300 registration VP-BDI departed the following day and reached Krasnojarsk with a delay of 18 hours.

The status of Crimea and Simferopol is disputed. According to international law and United Nations the Crimea belong to the Ukraine although Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.
