An Air Transat Boeing 737-800, registration C-FYQO performing flight TS-359 from Holguin (Cuba) to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 194 people on board, was climbing out of Holguin when the crew was unable to retract the flaps, stopped the climb and diverted to Varadero (Cuba) for a safe landing.

The Canadian TSB reported the operator's maintenance performed several test procedures on the Slat Flap Electronic Unit followed by a satisfactory operational check and returned the aircraft to service.

During the subsequent departure the crew was again unable to retract the flaps and returned to Varadero.

The Canadian TSB reported that maintenance now discovered a connector wire was broken. Repairs were made and the flaps system worked normally during the following flight.
