An Iraqi Airways Boeing 767-300, registration YI-AQM performing flight IA-443 from Basra (Iraq) to New Delhi (India) with 230 people on board, was climbing through FL210 out of Basra, about 40nm northeast of Kuwait City (Kuwait) when the crew stopped the climb and diverted to Kuwait City due to an engine (CF6) problem. The aircraft landed safely on Kuwait's runway 15R about 35 minutes later.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration YI-AGS reached New Delhi with a delay of 12 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Kuwait City about 26 hours after landing.
