A Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300, registration B-KPH performing flight CX-883 (dep Jul 11th) from Los Angeles,CA (USA) to Hong Kong (China) with 254 people on board, landed on Hong Kong's runway 07R and was about to turn off the runway when smoke was observed from underneath the fuselage. The aircraft stopped on the adjacent taxiway, emergency services attended the aircraft and found hydraulic fluid dripping onto the hot brakes. The aircraft was shut down and towed to the apron.

The airline reported that after landing the captain, suspecting a possible hydraulic leak at one of the main landing gear struts, invoked preventive procedures during passenger disembarkation.

The occurrence aircraft was able to resume service after about 7.5 hours on the ground.
