An Air Astana Boeing 767-300, registration P4-KEB performing flight KC-921 from Astana (Kazakhstan) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany), landed on Frankfurt's runway 25R. The crew intended to vacate the runway via high speed turn off P16 and began to steer the aircraft towards P16 but recognized the speed was too high, the maneouver therefore was not possible and steered the aircraft back to the runway center line. The aircraft however had already exited the runway, the left main gear rolled over soft ground for about 25 meters before the left main gear returned onto the paved surface of the runway. The crew subsequently vacated the runway at the next high speed turn off P20 and taxied to the apron without reporting the runway excursion.

On Jun 13th 2016 Germany's BFU reported in their monthly bulletin that according to Quick Access Recorders the speed was still about 60 knots when the crew attempted to steer the aircraft left onto turn off P16 before steering the aircraft right back onto the center line. The aircraft subsequently vacated the runway at taxiway P20.

The occurrence aircraft departed Frankfurt for the return flight about 90 minutes after landing.

The Aviation Herald had learned of the event on Apr 29th 2016 when a flight crew reported they had observed skidmarks near taxiways P16 and P20 on runway 25R. Subsequent research had been able to narrow the occurrence down to an Air Astana Aircraft, however, was unable to positively identify the date (and thus aircraft) of the occurrence. A subsequent inquiry with Germany's BFU on May 3rd 2016 remained without reply.
