A Gulf Air Airbus A330-200, registration A9C-KE performing flight GF-155 from Manila (Philippines) to Bahrain (Bahrain) with 247 passengers, was enroute at FL380 about 30nm southwest of Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence causing altitude deviations to FL373 and FL382 around 07:07Z. About 4 hours later the aircraft was enroute at FL400 about 180nm east of Mumbai (India) when the crew decided to divert the aircraft to Mumbai reporting a number of passengers and cabin crew had received injuries. The aircraft landed safely on Mumbai's runway 27 about 30 minutes after leaving FL400. One passenger was taken to a hospital with head wounds needing stitching.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 4:15 hours, then continued the journey and reached Bahrain with a delay of 5 hours.

The airline reported the aircraft encountered severe turbulence enroute causing minor injuries to a number of passengers and crew. The aircraft diverted to Mumbai, where one passenger received medical attention.
