A Eurowings Airbus A330-200, registration D-AXGC performing flight EW-121 from Phuket (Thailand) to Cologne/Bonn (Germany), was enroute when the first officer became incapacitated. The aircraft continued to Cologne for a safe landing.

On May 25th 2016 the French BEA reported the first officer was incapacitated enroute, the German BFU is investigating the occurence rated a serious incident.

On Nov 1st 2016 Germany's BFU released their May Bulletin reporting that the aircraft was enroute when the first officer became ill and was unable to continue duties. The relief pilot assumed the duties of the first officer and the flight continued to destination. The BFU rated the occurrence a serious incident, however, did not open an investigation.
