A TAROM Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-500, registration YR-ATA performing flight RO-217 from Bucharest Otopeni (Romania) to Belgrade (Serbia) with 27 passengers, was enroute at FL220 about 20nm south of Timisoara (Romania) when the crew initiated a rapid descent and decided to divert to Timisoara due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft landed safely about 20 minutes later.

The occurrence aircraft positioned back to Bucharest at maximum flight level 100 about 3 hours after landing in Timisoara.

The airline pledged to send a replacement aircraft to Timisoara to take them to Belgrade.
