An Emirates Airbus A380-800, registration A6-EDU performing flight EK-302 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Shanghai Pudong (China), was enroute at FL330 over the Arabian Sea about 540nm east of Dubai when the crew decided to return to Dubai due to a cracked windshield. The aircraft descended to FL320 for the flight back and landed safely on Dubai's runway 30L about 110 minutes later.

A replacement Airbus A380-800 registration A6-EDX departed Dubai about 3 hours after landing but needed to divert to Hong Kong (China) due to weather in Shanghai. The aircraft is now estimated to reach Shanghai with a delay of 25.75 hours.
