An Air Canada Boeing 777-300, registration C-FITL performing flight AC-873 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 340 people on board, was enroute at FL300 about 100nm east of London Heathrow,EN (UK) when an acrid smell was observed near the forward galley prompting the crew to declare PAN, dump fuel and divert to London Heathrow for a safe landing on runway 27L about 35 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported the quick reference handbook was followed, the inflight entertainment system and the galleys were unpowered.

The aircraft departed again after about 7 hours on the ground in London and was enroute at FL320 about 160nm northwest of London when again an acrid smell was observed near the L2/R2 galley. The crew decided to return to London Heathrow for a safe landing on runway 27R about 35 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported the quick reference handbook was again followed, the inflight entertainment system and the galleys were again disconnected from power supply.
