A THY Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration TC-JGZ performing flight TK-1675 from Istanbul (Turkey) to Cologne (Germany), was in the initial descent through about FL380 towards Cologne when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure reaching FL100 about 7 minutes later (average rate of descent 4000 fpm). The aircraft continued to Cologne for a safe landing on runway 14L about 35 minutes after leaving cruise level FL400.

The return flight TK-1676 (scheduled dep Jul 15th) was cancelled.

The incident aircraft was able to resume service about 16 hours after landing.
