Emirates B773 at Dubai and Dublin on Feb 17th 2016, nasty smell in cabin

An Emirates Boeing 777-300, registration A6-ENK performing flight EK-161 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Dublin (Ireland), departed Dubai's runway 30R. Soon after departure a nasty smell of burning feathers was noticed on board believed to be the result of a bird strike. In the absence of any abnormal indications the flight crew continued the flight to Dublin where the aircraft landed safely on runway 28 about 7:50 hours later.

The aircraft was unable to depart for the return flight, flight EK-162 was cancelled.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 48 hours, underwent a high power engine run and subsequently departed Dublin as flight EK-2502 about 52 hours after landing positioning back to Dubai. The aircraft resumed service out of Dubai about 65 hours after landing in Dublin.
