A Virgin Atlantic Airways Airbus A340-600, registration G-VEIL performing flight VS-12 from Boston,MA (USA) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was enroute at FL400 about 120nm east of St. John's,NL (Canada) when the crew reported the first officer was incapacitated as result of a medical problem, the flight was carrying another commercial pilot amongst their cabin crew. The captain decided to continue the flight to London, where the aircraft landed safely about 4 hours later.

NAV Canada reported after the first officer became incapacitated the crew advised they had another commerical pilot amongst their cabin crew who took the right hand seat, the captain advised they were continuing the flight to London.

The Canadian TSB confirmed the aircraft was enroute at FL400 when the first officer became medically incapacitated. "The flight was carrying another pilot crewmember and continued to destination."

The French BEA reported on Aug 7th 2012, that food poisoning is suspected as cause for the first officer's incapacitation.
