A United Boeing 767-300, registration N642UA performing flight UA-973 from Brussels (Belgium) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was climbing out of Brussel's runway 25R when the crew stopped the climb at FL100 reporting they had needed to shut an engine down and returned to Brussels for a safe landing on runway 25R about 40 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

A passenger reported the captain announced they had to shut an engine down possible due to damage by a foreign object/bird.
