A Delta Airlines Boeing 737-900, registration N837DN performing flight DL-1832 from Atlanta,GA to Phoenix,AZ (USA), was on approach to Phoenix's runway 26 when lightning struck the aircraft. The crew continued for a safe landing on runway (touchdown at about 151 knots over ground) maintaining routine communication and taxied to the gate.

The aircraft was unable to continue its schedule and is still on the ground in Phoenix about 17 hours after landing.

A passenger reported he believed the lightning struck near his window, there was a bright flash and a sound like a gun shot. The passenger commented he had experienced a number of lightning strikes while on aircraft but none as dramatic as this one.
