A Volga Dnepr Cargo Antonov AN-124, registration RA-82046 performing freight flight VI-4410 from Hopkinsville,KY to Anchorage,AK (USA), was on approach to Anchorage descending through about 10,000 feet when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence causing injuries to two crew members. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Achorage's runway 14 about 10 minutes later.

On Feb 6th 2012 the FAA reported a crew member sustained serious injuries.

On Nov 20th 2015 the NTSB released their brief final report concluding the probable cause of the accident was:

an inadvertent encounter with Clear Air Turbulence that resulted in serious injuries to two crewmembers

The NTSB stated that according to crew testimonies there had been pilot reports of light turbulence in the area. The aircraft was descending through 13,000 feet about 40nm out of Anchorage and was clear of cloud when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence for between 3 and 10 seconds, the vertical acceleration was recorded between -0.7G and +2.0G by the aircraft systems. One maintenance crew member was returning from the lavatory at the time, another one was seated with the seat belt fastened but was thrown against the arm rest, both received serious injuries.
