A Norwegian Air Shuttle Boeing 737-800 on behalf of Norwegian Air International, registration LN-NGF performing flight D8-2514 from London Gatwick,EN (UK) to Copenhagen (Denmark), was climbing through FL360 out of Gatwick Airport about 80nm west of Amsterdam when the crew decided to divert to Amsterdam (Netherlands) reporting smoke in the rear galley. The aircraft landed safely on Amsterdam's runway 06 about 16 minutes after stopping the climb at about FL368. The crew advised that the smoke had dissipated and taxied to the apron.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 2.5 hours then continued the journey to Copenhagen and following its Gatwick departure delay of 5:40 hours is estimated to arrive in Copenhagen with a delay of about 7.5 hours.
