Somali media are reporting based on statements by the deputy governor of the Afgoye province north of Mogadishu (Somalia) that a small cargo aircraft enroute from Nairobi (Kenya) to Belidogle (Somalia) with 9 to 12 occupants had crashed in an area near village Omar Darire under control by Al Shabab Militia, there is no indication of fatalities though the occupants are believed of having been captured by Al Shabab. The aircraft is said to be a Kenya registered Dornier Do-328 (tailnumber beginning with 5Y-).

The aircraft is said to have been chartered by the African Union (AU), mission for Somalia (AMISOM), to supply logistics to their operations at the military aerodrome of Belidogle also known as Wanlawayn Air Strip, located 48nm northnortwest of Mogadishu (Somalia).

The Aviation Herald is currently spending enormeous resources on trying to verify the reports but so far have not succeeded to receive any official confirmation of the event. Even more, there is currently no evidence available, neither photographic nor in aircraft lists, of a Do-328 on the Kenyan Aircraft register (only Do-228s are enlisted).
