A Mesa Airlines Canadair CRJ-900 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N248LR performing flight YV-5786/AA-5786 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX to McAllen,TX (USA), was on a visual approach and landed on McAllen's runway 31 at 11:44L (16:44Z) when the right hand wing tip struck the runway surface. The crew continued the landing, rolled out without further incident and taxied to the apron maintaining routine communication.

The airline reported the aircraft was removed from service over concerns of possible damage as result of the wing tip strike.

On Oct 1st 2015 the FAA reported the aircraft sustained minor damage in a wing tip strike during landing at McAllen and taxied to the apron. The occurrence was rated an incident.
