A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380-800, registration 9V-SKT performing flight SQ-12 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Los Angeles,CA (USA), was climbing out of Tokyo when the crew stopped the climb at about FL280 and descended back to FL250 reporting engine (Trent 970) vibrations. The crew shut the engine down, dumped fuel at FL160 and landed safely back on Narita's runway 34L about 2:15 hours after departure.

A replacement Airbus A380-800 registration 9V-SKP was dispatched to Tokyo and resumed the flight as SQ-12D. The flight is estimated to reach Los Angeles with a delay of 25:15 hours.
