A Kuwait Airways Airbus A300-600, registration 9K-AMC performing flight KU-785 from Kuwait City (Kuwait) to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), was in the initial approach to Jeddah when the crew needed to initiate an emergency descent as result of loss of cabin pressure, the passenger oxygen masks were automatically released. The aircraft diverted to Madinah (Saudi Arabia) for a safe landing about 15 minutes later.

The return flight was cancelled.

Passengers reported the captain announced that the cabin pressure was lost as result of an engine malfunction.

The incident aircraft has not resumed service yet (standing Jul 8th 10:30Z), however departed Madinah towards Kuwait on Jul 8th as positioning flight KU-8790.
