An Air Canada Boeing 767-300, registration C-GLCA performing flight AC-886 (scheduled dep Jul 29th, actual dep Jul 30th) from Toronto,ON (Canada) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) with 221 people on board, had been dispatched under minimum equipment list requirements with the APU inoperative. The aircraft was enroute at FL330 about 200nm northeast of Toronto when the crew decided to return to Toronto after receiving a "R ENG HPSOV" EICAS indication, that could not be cleared despite working the related checklists. The crew declared PAN due to an overweight landing and landed safely on Toronto's runway 23 about 50 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported that the crew received the "R ENG HPSOV" indication while climbing through FL220, working the related checklists could not clear the fault. Maintenance performed an overweight landing inspection and found a loose connector in the right wing pylon resulting in intermittent HPSOV indications. The connector was tightened and secured.
