Kunming B737 at Lijiang on Aug 4th 2015, rejected takeoff due to engine failure

A Kunming Airlines Boeing 737-700, flight KY-8293 from Lijiang to Chengdu (China), was accelerating for takeoff from Lijang but needed to reject takeoff due to the failure of the right hand engine. The aircraft slowed safely and taxied to the apron, where passengers disembarked normally.

A replacement Boeing 737-700 registration B-2678 reached Chengdu with a delay of 11.5 hours.

Passengers reported there had been a bang, smoke and streaks of flame from the right hand engine then the brakes came on.

The airline reported the failure of the right hand engine prompted the crew to reject takeoff. The passengers disembarked safely.
