A British Airways Boeing 777-300, registration G-STBC performing flight BA-297 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was enroute at FL340 about 75nm northeast of Shannon (Ireland) when the crew requested to return to London Heathrow, dumping fuel for about 13 minutes along, reporting they had received damage to the right hand engine (GE90) on departure from London Heathrow, the engineers wanted to check the engine out. The aircraft descended to FL290 on the way back, dumped fuel, and landed safely on Heathrow's runway 27R about 100 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

A passenger reported the aircraft received a bird strike on departure from Heathrow and returned to Heathrow. They arrived in Chicago one day later.
