A KLM Boeing 747-400, registration PH-BFG performing flight KL-785 from Sint Maarten (Sint Maarten) to Curacao (Curacao), had backtracked runway 10 taxiing for departure, had lined up runway 10 and was accelerating engines for takeoff from Sint Maarten's runway 10 when the crew rejected takeoff at very low speed and taxied back to the apron announcing to passengers, that they had received an unsafe gear indication.

The aircraft was able to depart about 3.5 hours later and reached Curacao with a delay of 3.5 hours.

Passenger "Fly4U" reported that following maintenance, during which passengers were kept on board without APU and air conditioning running, they were told that one gear was locked. The aircraft subsequently pushed back twice in 45 degrees angles each to check the maintenance work, then was released to carry on to Curacao and further on to Amsterdam.
