A Germania Boeing 737-700, registration D-AGEP performing flight ST-2074 from Erfurt (Germany) to Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) with 151 passengers and 5 crew, was enroute at FL350 about 75nm south of Erfurt when the crew initiated an emergency descent (average rate of descent 4000fpm), the passenger oxygen masks were released, and returned to Erfurt for a safe landing on runway 28 about 40 minutes later.

Passengers reported the oxygen masks came down, the crew subsequently announced a pressure valve did not function properly. They have been advised a replacement aircraft would take them to Mallorca.

The occurrence aircraft positioned to Berlin Schoenefeld (Germany) departing Erfurt about 3 hours after landing reaching a maximum cruise level 130 enroute.

The airline confirmed the aircraft returned to Erfurt due to the loss of cabin pressure. The passengers were taken to hotels until a replacement aircraft, estimated to leave at 17:30L, is ready for departure.

A replacement Niki Airbus A320-200 registration OE-LEA was dispatched from Palma Mallorca to Erfurt as flight ST-2237, performed flight ST-2074 and reached Palma Mallorca with a delay of 11 hours.
