A China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration B-5245 performing flight MU-5859 from Dali City to Chengdu (China), was climbing out of Dali City when the crew decided to divert to Kunming, about 150nm east of Dali City, due to the failure of some anti-ice system. The airrcraft landed safely in Kunming.

The remainder of the flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
