An Air France Boeing 747-400, registration F-GITJ performing flight AF-718 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to Dakar (Senegal), was climbing out of Paris when the crew stopped the climb at FL120 due to a partial electrical outage. The aircraft returned to Paris, climbed to FL160 to dump fuel and landed safely on runway 26R about 50 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 747-400 registration F-GITH reached Dakar with a delay of 4:20 hours.

The airline confirmed a partial power outage early into the flight, a minor technical problem, that prompted the crew to return to Paris.
